P.S. I've found the best way to research my family in WikiTree is to post what I know and connect to existing profiles when I find them. That way, you can ask questions in G2G from the profile you're stuck on & folks will know what you have already.

The How to use WikiTree link has basic info on WikiTree. For genealogy, check out this page.

I found the learning curve fairly steep at WikiTree, but it goes fast. The more you play, the easier it gets, and the WikiTree community is wonderfully supportive.

Cheers, Liz

Phillip –

You are now a confirmed member of WikiTree! Thank you for volunteering.

Not sure how to start? Check out How to Use Wikitree.

Have fun and ask for help in G2G if you need it! WikiTree members are always eager to offer guidance to a fellow genealogist. It’s a fun place too. Take a look at what I mean here, G2G’s Question of the Week: What are some of the websites you subscribe to and what do you find most beneficial to your research?

The G2G forum is a great way to get to know our community, and if you would like to get more involved, see this page for volunteer opportunities.

Happy hunting!

Hi Phillip,

I wanted to suggest that you edit your tag(s) to show any surnames you are researching. When you list a surname, location or historical event in your tags, you can then click them and see a list of other WikiTree genealogists who are also researching those names, locations, etc.

You'll also get notifications in your daily & weekly emails when there is activity relevant to your tags.

Information on Tags can be found at http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Tags

This Link will auto-populate your tag page. http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Special:Following

Edit your tag comment to show your interest in genealogy and the surname. Then a Greeter will drop by and confirm you a member.

Please let me know if you have any questions! :-)

Hi Phillip,

Welcome to WikiTree! The email we just sent has helpful links to get you started.

WikiTree is different than other genealogy websites because our goal is to have one profile per person, and that means we share ancestors and work together as a BIG collaborative team!

What brings you to WikiTree? Do you have research you’d like to share? Are you interested in how your family fits into the big tree?

When you confirm your email address, you’ll be given an opportunity to volunteer to help document our collective family history. Use the Tags and comments to tell us about your genealogical interests.

When you volunteer, one of our Greeters will confirm your membership. Then you'll be able to add your family to the tree!

We're really glad you're here!
