According to Ancestry Family Trees, and Wikitree profile, she was born in Virginia, with different estimations of when she was born. However, if she is the mother of Elizabeth Slade, wife of Samuel Slade, Sr., she most likely would have been born about 1736 or before; in order to have her married about 1753. Stephen Senter, Sr., is listed as being born in 1720; therefore, her birth would likely be between 1720-1736. Her son, Stephen, is listed as being born in 1756, when she was about 19.
Mary Sims was married to Stephen Senter, in about 1753, and they lived in Cumberland County, North Carolina. She potentially was about 17 when she married him; although, no marital record has been located as far as I am aware.
In 1790 they were living in Fayetteville District, Cumberland County, North Carolina. They lived next to William Senter, believed to be their son. Nearby in the community lived other family members, including Isaac Sims, William Sims, James Sims, Isaac Sims, Jr., Isaac Sims, and Benjamin Sims. According to Ancestry Family Trees, she was the daughter of Joseph William Sims (Symes), and Mary Laird; although I can not provide their sources. The Sims men in the 1790 census are likely relatives.
In 1800, Stephen and Mary were living in Cumberland, Cumberland, North Carolina. This was potentially the same area or home as in 1790. Stephen passed away in 1804, according to Ancestry Family Trees, and Wikitree profiles.
In 1810, Mary was a widow, and living next to her daughter Lucinda, and her son-in-law, Owen Tutor. They lived in Captain MacKenny's District, Cumberland County, North Carolina. In the community also lived Stephen Senter, Jr., her son.
Mary is listed on Ancestry Family Trees and Wikitree profiles, as dying in 1810, obviously after the enumeration had taken place for the census of that year. She died in Captain MacKenny's District, Cumberland, North Carolina.
Note: More DNA connections need to be found to confirm whether or not Mary was the mother of Elizabeth; however, there is a DNA connection between Lucinda and Elizabeth; or, Elizabeth and Owen Tudor. There is also a possible DNA connection between Elizabeth and Joseph William Symes, and his father, Captain George Symes. More DNA matches need to be found to confirm these findings.
