Biography

Mark was born in 1743. He was the son of William Sims. He passed away in 1790.

Mathew Sims and his brother Mark Sims served as chain bearers for William Simms' Survey. Survey made 22 Jul, 1761, on south side of Neuse River adjoining his own land. (Grant #41, File #722, Book 14,p. 244)# Feb 1769 - Johnston County, N.C.

June 6, 1775--Matthew Sims & Mark Sims in Capt. Sims' (father) District to be Patrollers. Wake Co., NC. This was a civic duty. Patrollers patrolled their county district looking for Negroes who were out at night without permission.
