It's not uncommon for humans to loose a few years later in life. I corrected one ladies birth date when her husband of 50 years just happen to answer the census taker in Alabama on her birthday with the most generous response. She is 29 and the census taker name was same as her maiden name. So she entered it as 29. We could all be so lucky.
However, most of the time the adjustment is generally in 5 year increments. Such is the case with Lucy. In my records her birth date is January 28, 1876. Please refer to her census record dated June 1, 1880 when she was four years old.
