He was baptised 15 October 1792 at Hinton Waldrist the son of Thomas and Rebeccah. [1]
The Familysearch.org site has a David Simms baptised in 1792 in Hinton Waldrist but adds that he died in September 1793. The searches in the baptismal register are quite comprehensive and there are many Simms but there is no other David Simms. Our David Simms (see below) was quite consistent in saying he was born in Hinton Waldrist, where he lived all his life and died, and consistently gave his age suggesting a birth in 1792. The entry of death from familysearch is unsubstantiated - there is no citation or reference and it would seem that the burial registers for 1710 - 1810 are missing. Neither are there photographic copies of the baptismal register to check if this death record is a marginal entry there and there is no note of it on the freereg transcript.
Findmypast has a burial entry for 16 sept 1793, David son of Thomas and Rebeccah.: This seems to be a Bishops Transcript rather than an original. [2]
There was only the one family of Sims in Hinton Waldrist baptismal registers for the period. All the male children, except Jacob born 1782, survived beyond 1793. Unless the 'David' was a mistake for Jacob, then it is hard to explain this death entry given that David clearly lived a long life.
