Jemima was born about 1786. She was the daughter of Edward Simms and wife Amy.
She was named in the will of her mother Amy Simms dated 3 June 1842 and again as an heir of her father in a chancery suit brought against all the heirs of her grandfather James Sims by his executor.
Jemima was again named in a rather complex chancery suit filed by her brother Alexander H. Simms. She was residing in the 1850 Madison County, Virginia household of Alexander, enumerated at age 63. This record indicated Jemima was blind. Her date of death is not known.
