Thomas was born on 15 May 1850 at Toodyay, Western Australia.[1] He was the son of James Sinclair and Mary Glass.
He married Melinda Wilkerson on 7 September 1882 at Katrine.[2]
Thomas was a farmer at Toodyay until c. 1890, then became a baker and carrier, then a butcher at Northam. He employed a Ticket of Leave man at Toodyay in 1870.[2]

On Friday afternoon at Subiaco, the death occurred of a well-known, former resident of Northam, Thomas Sinclair, aged 80 years. The deceased who had spent most of his life farming, was born at Toodyay in May, 1850 and in September 1882 marred Miss Melinda Wilkerson at Katrine. His wife predeceased him by 14 years. His daughter Linda, and sons Vivian, Sam, and Harry, survive him. The funeral took place in Northam on Sunday afternoon leaving the private mortuary of Messrs. J. W. Purslowe and Sons and proceeding to the Katrine Church where a service was held, and from thence to the family grave at the Katrine cemetery. Rev. Arthur Haining conducted the burial services.[3]
