"James Sinclair, of Dunbeath, Caithness, Scotland, 4th son of William Sinclair, of Latheron and of Dunbeath (M.P. for Caithness-shire, 1661-63), by Elizabeth, da. of Sir James Sinclair, 1st Baronet [S. 1631], of Mey, suc. to the estate of Dunbeath, on the death of his father in 1690, and suc. to that of Stemster, co. Caithness, on the death, Dec. 1699, of his br. William Sinclair, to whom he was served, 28 Feb. 1701, heir of entail and provision general.
He was M.P. for Caithness-shire, 1703-7 and was created a Baronet , as above, the sign manual, being dated at Windsor, 12 Oct. 1704, with rem. to heirs male for ever.
He m. firstly Isabel, da. and coheir of Sir Archibald Muir, of Thornton, Ayr, Scotland - L. Provost of Edinburgh. He m. secondly Isobel, da. of John Lumsden, shipmaster, in Aberdeen, but by her had no male issue. He d. 28 Sep. 1742." [2]

Sir James Sinclair of Dunbeath, 1st Baronet, married Isabel Lumsden daughter of John Lumsden, shipmaster, in Aberdeen, Scotland.

  1. Jean Sinclair m. Capt. Robert Campbell of Glenfalloch He gained the rank of Surgeon in the 39th Regiment. He died in 1794 at Guadeloupe, Caribbean Islands. [4]
