Biography

Paris Eugene Singer was the fourth child and third son of Isaac Merritt Singer and his second wife Isabella Eugénie Boyer.^[1] He was an early resident of Key West, Florida, and Singer Island was named after him. He was a close friend of architect Addison Mizner.^[2]

He married Cecilia Henrietta Augusta Graham on 24 October 1887 in Hobart, Tasmania.^[3][4][5] In 1891 the couple was living in Kensington.^[6] They had five children, Herbert, Cecil, Winnaretta, Paris Graham and George.^[7]

He had an affair with dancer Isadora Duncan and is the presumed father of her son Patrick (1910-1913).

Paris Eugene died in Chelsea on 24 June 1932.^[8][9] His remains are at Torquay Crematorium.^[7]

Research notes

According to the 1871 and 1891 census (as well as some tertiary sources), Paris Singer was born in Paris, but I have been unable to find his birth registration there. Other sources claim he was born in Yonkers, New York, but no confirmation could be found either. Leaving no place of birth for now. Rassinot-1 18:47, 2 May 2020 (UTC)

He appears to have married again to Annie Charlotte (Bates?) as he is found travelling with her as his wife in 1924.^[10]
