Biography

Charles Hosgood Single was baptised, together with his sister Rose Emily Single, at Mile End New Town St Olave on 2 Jun 1893 ^[1]. A marginal note in the baptismal register records Charles' date of birth as 30 Mar 1888; however, his birth was registered during the 4th Quarter of 1887 ^[2], and the 1939 Register records his date of birth as 31 Oct 1887 ^[3].

He married Ellen Clara Fussell in Shoreditch Registration District, London during the 4th Quarter of 1911 ^[4].

During the First World War, he served with the Royal Flying Corps as an Air Mechanic at No.1 Aeroplane Supply Depot, St Omer, France. He died in Hackney, London on 1 Apr 1969 ^[5][6].
