Edith was quite a horsewoman. She married the brother of her sister, a Merrigan,
they had no children, then she married Ted Stepniak. Edith died in childbirth, while Mary Louise, Shirley and Suzanne lived in Beaumont, Texas. Orelia, our "colored maid" took Shirley and Suzanne on a bus and she had to sit in the back row and the bus driver would not let Shirley and Suzanne join Orelia nor could she sit with us.
Personal recollection by Suzanne 26 July 2017.
