Correspondence: Letter From Ronald T. Plessinger; dated 23 June 1992
(This letter broke down one of the biggest road blocks in my research)
Dear Bob
On my most recent trip home to visit my parents (Ralph & Donna Plessinger)
My father gave me the lettter Donald Plessinger had receved from you. I've been
working on the Plessinger genealogy for the past 10 years, and when I got
frustrated, I worked on the other lines, most notably, my grandmother
Plessinger's family, which was the Sipple line - talk about dead-ends and
nearly impossible to search out more information! I think you will be happy
with the efforts I have done on this Sipple line! Your Grandmother Maude
Pearl was my Great Grandfather Sipple's sister! I still remember taking
trips to Marion, Indiana to visit my Great-Grandfather Enos Melvin, and also
to Columbus, Ohio to visit Henry Allen Sipple. In my grandmother Plessinger's
papers, she indicated her grandfather Sipple's death date, but I've not been
successful in locating his grave, nor that of his father, Henry.
The early history of the Sipple's is sketchy at best. - I've included some
obituaries which may help. Henry came to Darke County before 1840 and was
naturalized 5/13/1844. His naturalization papers indicate he was from
Hesse (Wurtemburg) Germany. He married Catherine Baughman in 1842/3. He
bought land in Richland Township, Drake County, Ohio and had a large family by
todays standards; and that's about all I know this far. The rest of the Sipple
clan is just about as elusive.
To complete my records, I would appreciate receiving any and all information
on your grandmother's marrage and subsequent families (including yours)
I'll look forward to hearing from you soon!
Sincerely, Ronald T. Plessinger
