Biography

Meredith Sisk and Sarah "Sallie" Spann (Spoon?) were married in Fayette County, Kentucky on 16 October 1814. [1]

They were the parents of the following known children.

A Life in Kentucky

  • In 1815 Meredith served on the Hopkins County (Kentucky) Organization Committee for a County Court.
  • Hopkins County land records include Meredith Sisk in 1822.
  • In 1822 he was listed as a creditor in the estate of B.D. Town.
  • In May 1825 he purchase goods from Willis Sisk's estate at Hopkins County
  • In 1827 he and Barnabas appraised the Thomas O'Bryan estate
  • In 1841 he purchased land from the estate of Willis Sisk.
  • In 1840, the U.S. Census shows that a 70 to 79 year old man, possibly his father, Barnabas was living with Meredith in Hopkins County Kentucky.
  • The following U.S. Census show Meredith Sisk living in Hopkins County Kentucky, 1820, 1830, 1840, 1850, 1860 and 1870. [2] [3] [4] [5]
  • The Hopkins County Genealogy Society annotated version of the 1860 US Census Willis Sisk is the son of Meredith Sisk and Sarah Spann [1], providing a possible spelling for the maiden name of Sarah "Sallie", instead of "Spoon" as written in their marriage record.

Military

Meredith was a Veteran of 1812. [6] [7]
On 18 August 1858 , he received 120 acres for service in the War of 1812, Capt MCGarys Co, 5th KY Regiment. This land is in Pine County, Minnesota and was assigned to Wilbur M Hayward in 1858. (Military Land Warrant #29495).
