Mąjanąka was born about 1805 somewhere in what is now Illinois. (1900 census) At the time it was part of Indiana Territory.
The name Manjahnuckaw is a phonetic rendering of Mąjanąka, which is from mą, "earth"; ja, "to see"; -nąk, a positional suffix indicating the sitting position (or a neutral position); and -ka, a definite article suffix used in personal names.
Mąjanąka was the father of Mink Woman (born abt. 1828; died Oct 7, 1905) and Twin Woman (born about 1831; died Oct 10, 1900). (Linda W.)
