Biography

The original version of this profile claimed she:

  • was born about 1784, the daughter of Agnes "Aggie" Shepherd and George "All" Sizemore. [citation needed];
  • married about 1798 John E Bowling/Bolling[citation needed]
  • was the mother of:
    • Mary (Bolling) Combs
    • Henrietta (Bowling) Asher
    • Agnes (Bowling) Muncy
    • Margaret (Bowlin) Hollen
  • Moved to Arkansas[citation needed]
  • According to some, while visiting her daughter in 1862, Susan died in Kentucky and was buried at Bowling-Bald Point Cemetery in, Leslie County, Kentucky, USA. [1] with her daughter Sylvainia (Sizemore) Mosley and son-in-law, Granville Mosley. It has been said that the reason she is buried so high on the mountain is so "she could be close to her God" per Walter Sizemore and Ralph Howard.[citation needed]
Why would she have a daughter with the maiden name Sizemore?

Does anyone have a reliable source for Susan being the daughter of George "All" Sizemore?

With such a lack of citations (URL address) for the line sources (which need citations) and a liminted number of line sources indicating perhaps a more intensive search could be profitable ... it would be hard to form an opinion based on what has been presented so far - and in fact the only "evidence" is the find a grave ... has no one thought to search the familysearch.org archives?

There's a biog on their son, bookhiker.com/2022/02/25/elijah-bowling-jr/ Elijah Bowling Feb 1828 to Feb 1908, comes with census also - 1850 onward of Breathitt County, Kentucky Federal Census

Susan,

The blog you link to is for an Elijah Bowling, son of Elijah Bowling Sr and Susannah Roberts.

Different couple.

However it appears that some attention to items needing citations and other improvements has occurred?

It may be that it's not "no one thought of to search FamilySearch", but more of "no one has done the work".

Well someone has been busy 😀 and added citations from Ancestry.com. I prefer familysearch.org myself since the material is freely accessible and there is no requirement for a membership fee. But we all have our preferences.

There's a 5-person committee for this profile, and the persons editing recenly are not members in that committee. Three committe members are recently active in 2023, if not on this profile.

AND my silver lining is I now have the template for "citations needed".

So whatever the causes and cures of this one profile, there has been some improvement in at least this one profile. Gotta be seen as a plus.❤

Well, I wouldn't think of it as a "committee". When profiles merge, every Profile Manager keeps getting added to the merged profile. It doesn't mean that everyone is an active Profile Manager. WT is a collaborative platform. If you think something needs changed, then go ahead and do it. Just source your work and all is good.

I've been working on it, adding sources from FamilySearch.org, but the more I work on it, the more uncertain I am that what I found has anything to do with THIS Susan (supposedly Sizemore) Bowling/Bolling.

UPDATE: I've separated out what I found into research notes because I'm not convinced what I found is for this Susan.

Unfortunately, the original question remains unanswered: What evidence supports Susan, wife of Bowling being a Sizemore or daughter of George Sizemore of Kentucky?
posted by Jillaine Smith
Well, if you are still up to it, have the time, you might be able to find something. Whether pro or con or both, ay out your arguments about this.

You've been a WikiTreer for some time and have excellent skills, so this should not be difficult for you. I'm going back to what I was doing before I interrupted myself with this.

Susan, you put words in my mouth I did not say, with a tone that was uncalled for.

My point is that there are many instances where people are listed as a Profile Manager where they don't contribute any work to the profile. Characterizing the group of Profile Managers as some group that consistently collaborates on managing the work on a profile may not be a good metaphor to use.

My other statement still stands: If someone wants to see improvements on a profile, then go ahead and make them.

I don't see any Ancestry.com citations/sources.

That is good to know, forced me to open to Edit and try to discern what was there in the crowd of text. And you are correct that it is not citations from Ancestry.com
