Death
Based upon the date of the Intial Inventory of his Estate, William Skaggs died in November of 1827 in Barren County, Kentucky.[7]
Probate
On November 30, 1827, the Initial Inventory and Appraisal of the Estate of William Skaggs was completed. It was filed on May 17 1828 in Barren County Court, Kentucky.[7] The Estate sale occurred the same day.[7] One-third was set off to the "Widow" suggesting that William died intestate. The Final Settlement of his Estate occurred on September 11, 1829 at the home of Henry Skaggs. Interestingly, there is a account for amounts paid to the Clerk of the Kentucky Court of Appeals. Notes paid included one owed to Susannah Skaggs and Robert Everan.[8]
Lewis Slinker was apparently a Co-Administrator of William Skaggs' Estate.
Buyers at William Skaggs' Estate sale included, among others, Royal Jeffrey (son-in-law), Abner Boston (son-in-law), William Harris, John Silcock, Abraham and Reuben Clark, and Harrison Dowel.[7]
Research Notes
Benjamin Laswell appears on the 1782 tax list in the came Company.[4]
Benjamin Lacefield, Daniel Lacefield and Jonathan Lacefield appear on the 1790 Census in the same Company as Wm. Lacefield.[4]
