John Skeel Jr. or II was one of 78 householders of Woodbury to whom a division of meadow land on the Shepaug River was made in 1702. John Jr., his father and his brother Thomas were taxpayers of the North Precinct of Woodbury in 1712 (See Vol 3. page 1547 Biog. Encyclopedia 1917).

John and his wife, Sarah Blakeslee Skeel, became members of the Woodbury Church 4 Sep 1725. [2]

John’s will was written on 2 May 1727 and proved 22 June 1727. He gave to his wife Sarah the use and improvement of the house and home lot during her natural lifetime and also some lands and one third of the movable estates; to son Thomas 49 acres of land, the rest of the estate to be divided equally among the other children. he appointed his brother Samuel Blakesley and wife Sarah to act as ‘Administratic’ Witnesses: Benjamin Hickok, Thomas Knowles and Francis Stiles. Inventory of 26 Jun 1717 lists property also the house, barn and considerable land and rights in more land. 21 May 1739 to sons John, Ephraim, Jonathan and Samuel and to daughters Miriam, Abigail, Sarah and Hannah. (District of Woodbury 1726 #4031). There is a deed in 1745 and one in 1748 where Willian Judd quit claimed to all of Sarah (Blakesley) Skeel Judd’s Property except 60 pounds due him by Philip Judd and 40 pounds due him from Samuel Skeel both of Kent Connecticut. Sarah (Blakesley/Blakeslee) Skeel Judd and William Judd removed to New Milford Connecticut.
