Waldo was born in 1870. He was the son of John Skillings and Jemima Dougherty. He lived with his parents and siblings in East Zorra, Oxford North, Ontario in 1871[1] and 1881.[2]
Waldo headed west. He worked as a farm labourer in Clinton, Cariboo, British Columbia in 1891.[3]
Waldo married Margaret McTavish on 31 Oct 1900 in Calgary, Alberta.[4] They lived in Penfold, Alberta, The Territories in 1901, where Waldo was a farmer. Margaret's sister, Ellen, lived with them then. [5] They had four children, including:
James Stewart Skillings - born 1901
Janetta Muir Skillings - born 1903
Waldo McTavish Skillings - born 1906
Frank Gordon Skillings - born 1908.
They lived in Victoria, British Columbia in 1911, where Waldo was now a contractor,[6] 1921[7] and 1931.[8]
Waldo passed away in 1938. He was President of the Victoria Baggage Company.[9][10][11]
