James was born in 1875. He was the son of John Skillings and Jemima Dougherty.[1]
He lived with his parents and siblings in Zorra East, Oxford North, Ontario in 1881[2] and in 1891.[3]
According to Contributors to “The Early Days of Innerkip District, “James went west and was unheard of afterwards”.[4]
Research shows he served in the Canadian Expeditionary Force in WWI. He enlisted in 1918 in Toronto, Ontario, but was a resident in Peoria, Illinois, United States. His occupation was as a grade foreman. He listed his brother, John, as his next of kin.[5] He returned to the United States in 1920. He was now recorded as an electrician.
James is listed in a Directory in 1939 in Lincoln, Nebraska as a junk dealer.
He passed away in 1949. He is buried in Lincoln, Nebraska.[6]
