John Skinner, along with his brothers, Oramel and William were the second pioneers to settle in Windsor Twp. "Their journey from the State of Vermont (during a severe cholera epidemic) was slow and filled with many hardships. The brothers cut a road through from Spicerville to their land. They built log houses and in the spring of 1838 moved their families here from the southern part of the state. In all, the Skinner brothers owned 960 acres of land."[2]
