Silas and his wife, Esther CUMBY SKIPPER's oldest child, Elizabeth, born 1821 in Brunswick Co., NC, was married to Joel Clark in 1838 in Bibb Co. Silas and Esther's younger children, Mary Jane, Drucilla and Katherine, were born in Bibb Co. between 1833 and 1840. Silas and his family moved from Georgia to Dale County, Alabama around 1845, where they all bought farmland totaling over a thousand acres. Silas died young from kidney stones ("gravel") soon after the relocation, leaving his widow Esther to manage a large amount of land with the help of her married children.
