Biography

Ivan (along with his twin brother Irwin) was born December 14, 1899 in Douglas, Washington to William Slack and Melissa Burgess.[1]

At the age of five he moved to Wenatchee with his family where he attended school. For several winters he worked for the Douglas County Road Department. On September 20, 1923, he married Anna I. Simmons there in Wenatchee.[2] Ivan owned and operated an orchard and was later a partner in the Stadelman Fruit Company. He retired in 1963. Ivan was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Wenatchee and served as a trustee during the construction of the new church building. He was past exalted ruler of Wenatchee Lodge No. 1186 B.P.O.E.; a member of William H. Jett Lodge No. 285, F.&A.M.; and Astral Chapter No. 75, Order of Eastern Star.

He passed away April 15, 1984[3] in a nursing home in Wenatchee, Washington.
