Biography
Richard (commonly called Dick) was born about 1894 in County Cavan, Northern Ireland.[1][2][3] He was recorded in the 1911 census as living with his family in Ballymagauran, Cavan.[1] Dick served in WWI and then immigrated to New Zealand in 1919, where he served as the mayor of the city of Upper Hutt between 1953 and 1959.[3] He married Nellie Ottaway in 1929.[4][5] He passed away in 1979.[2][3]
