Biography

James Dixon Slade was born on May 3, 1820 in Baltimore County, Maryland. He was the son of Edward Slade and Elizabeth Shipley.

James married Hannah Gorsuch Riddle, daughter of John Thomas Riddle and Sarah Jane Gorsuch, in Maryland.

In 1870, James was listed as a wheelright and farmer, real estate $3,000 and personal $1,000. Sarah Riddle, 82, was living in this household, could she be Hannah's mother? Edmond Slade, 74, retired farmer, could be his father, was living next door in the houshold of Dorcas Scastt?2 J.D.'s sister, Dorcas Scarff, and her daughter Mary were living next door.

James died on March 10, 1891 in Long Green, Baltimore County, Maryland, at age 70. He was buried in Wilson United Methodist, Long Green, Baltimore County, Maryland.
