Simon was born in 1792. He was the son of Jethro Slade and Mary Harris. He was the twin brother of Samuel.

He fought in the War of 1812 with Georgia's 4th Regiment Militia. ^[1][2]

He married Matilda Rickerson in 1838. ^[3]
