Lester was born in 1896. He was the son of Prentice Slade and Sallie Gilliam. He passed away on Dec. 9, 1983[1]. He was a veteran of World War I, having enlisted in the Army on May 10, 1918. He was released on Feb. 4, 1919.[2] For more than forty years he was a lineman for the Portland Electric Company residing in Vancouver, Clarke County, Washington. After his wife Ollie died, he retired to Brazoria County, Texas. His last years were sent in nursing homes in the area of Angleton, Texas. He is buried in the South Park Cemetery in Houston.
"He was a member of several Masonic Lodges, including the Shriner Lodge in Vancouver, Wash. He was also a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Vancouver, Wash."[3]
