Biography

Jefferson Slade was the son of William Rufus Slade and Julia Ann Higganbotham, born on 25 September 1837 in Opelousas, St. Landry Parish, Louisiana.

At the time of the 1880 United States Census, Jefferson Slade and his two wives Sarah J. Slade and Mary Jane Slade were listed as living in Panguitch, Utah with his children Sarah A., Jefferson A., Elizabeth E., James M., William F., Samuel J., Ada A., Joseph H., and Benjamin Slade^[1].

At the time of the 1900 United States Census, Jefferson, Joanna B., Jessee, Erastus, George, and Fanny D. Slade were listed as living in Apache, Arizona Territory^[2].

Jefferson died in Eagar, Arizona^[3], and was buried in Eagar Cemetery.
