Biography

Thomas Slater was born about 1751 in Belper, Derbyshire, England, son of William Alcock Slater (1728–1782) and Elizabeth Smith (~1737–1819).

Thomas married Hannah Saint of the parish of Pentrich (born before 5 May 1760 in Pentrich, Derbyshire; daughter of Joseph Saint and Hannah (Slack) Saint) by banns on 5 March 1780 in Duffield, Derbyshire. Witnesses were David Wood and James Sowter.[1][2]

In 1782 he inherited land in Belper from his father for his life; after his death the land was to pass to his son William.[3][4]

Thomas Slater, farmer of Belper, Derbyshire, made last will on 1 September 1817 naming his wife Hannah and children
