Biography

The daughter of Moses Slater and Annie (Walker) Slater, Belle was born in Gananoque Township in 1876. Her family migrated to Michigan sometime after 1880, settling in Tuscola County. Belle married Stephen Eugene Towns (1869-1945), the son of Eugene Towns and Elizabeth Hartman, in Caro, Michigan on March 30, 1898.^[1] They had two children:

1. Frances Irene Towns (1899-1995)
2. Howard Ellsworth Towns (1908-1996)

They made their home in Denmark Township, where Stephen farmed.^[2][3][4][5] She passed away in Denmark at the age of 79 and is buried at Denmark Township Cemetery in Reese, Michigan.^[6]
