Power of Attorney:

By instrument dated May 5, 1733, Elizabeth Lasswell, wife of Jacob Lasswell, Planter, of Prince Wililam County, Vrignia, appointed Castesby Cocke, Gent. of the same county, her attorney in fact to release her right of dower in 436 ac of land upon which her husband recently dwelt on the upper side of Goose Creek, near Seaglins Branch, to facilitate the lease of the land to John Mercer, Gent. of Stafford County, Virginia.[2]

Leases:

By instrument executed on September 18, 1744, Jacob Lasswell and Elizabeth, his wife, of the County of Fairfax, Colony of Virginia, released Walter Williams, Planter, of the same county from a lease of 270 ac. in Fairfax County originally patented to Jacob Lasswell by the Proprietors on June 7, 1744 and recorded in Proprietors Book F, p. 160. The consideration was 5,000 lbs of tobacco. [3]

By instrument executed on April 26, 1745, Jacob Lasswell, Yeoman, and Elizabeth his wife, of the County of Fairfax, Colony of Virginia, released Amos Janney, Yeoman, of the same county from a lease of a tract of land along Beaver Dam Creek, a branch of Goose Creek, in the same county. It is recited that the lands were originally patented to Jacob Lasswell by the Proprietors of Vriginia as recorded in Book E, Folio 436. [4]

Research Notes

By instrument dated November 19, 1731, Jacob Lasswell of Hamilton Parish, Prince William County, Colony of Virginia, in consideration of "Love, Goodwill & Affection", conveyed 140 ac on the upper side of Goose Creek, to George Slater, Planter, of the same county.[5]

A mother's death date (Slater-466 died 1738) should not be before one of her children's birth dates (Laswell-16 born 1741) .
