Biography

Francis was born 6 Aug 1873 in Manchester, Lancashire, England. According to his death certificate, he was the son of Francis Slater and Christiana Kelly.

He was baptized 24 Aug 1873 at St. John's Church Manchester, Lancashire, England. ^[1][2]

In 1881 he was living in Chorlton Upon Medlock, Lancashire, England.^[3] The household included Francis Slater 36, wife Chritiana Slater 40, son Thos H Slater 9, son Frank Slater 7, father-in-law Thomas Hallingworth 76 and mother-in-law Elizabeth Hallingworth. Francis was a coachman. Thomas Hallingworth was a baker.

In 1891 he was living in Rushulme, Lancashire, England.^[4] The household included Christiana Slater 48, son Thomas H Slater 19, son Frank Slater 17, boarder Charles E Stearns 23, boarder Emily M Owen 25 and visitor Emma Maller 6. Christiana was widowed. Both Charles and Frank were warehousemen.

Jean McFarland and Frank Slater were married 21 Jun 1907 in Seattle, King, Washington.^[5] He was a resident of Vancouver, Washington. She was a resident of Tacoma, Washington. Witnesses were K C McFarland and Mrs. H McFarland.

He registered for thd World War I draft in Los Angeles County, California.^[6]

In 1920 he was living in Los Angeles, Los Angeles, California.^[7] The household included Frank Slater 47 born in England, wife Jean E Slater 44 born in Illinois and daughter Doris E Slater 8 born in Canada. Frank was a salesman in a grocery store. Frank and Doris immigrated to the US in 1917 and neither was naturalized.

In 1930 he was living in Pasadena, Los Angeles, California.^[8] The household included Frank Slater 57, wife Jane E Slater 55, and daughter Doris J Slater 17. Naturalization paperwork was pending for both Frank and Doris.

Frank Slater petitioned for naturalization as a US citizen on 20 Jan 1926. The petition was approved 24 April 1931.^[9] Frank was born 6 Aug 1873 in Manchester, England. Frank and Jane were married 21 Jun 1907 in Seattle, Washington. She was born in Fulton, Illinois. Frank entered the United States 24 Sep 1917 at Seattle, Washington. Daughter Doris was born 28 Jun 1911 at Vancouver, Canada.

In 1940 he was living in Pasadena Judicial Township, Los Angeles, California.^[10] The household included Frank Slater 66 born in England and wife Jane E Slater 65 born in Illinois. Frank was a real estate salesman. Jane was a portrait retoucher working in her own home.

He died 7 Mar 1957 in Altadena, Los Angeles, California.^[11][12]

His ashes are buried in Mountain View Cemetery and Mausoleum, Altadena, Los Angeles County, California.^[13]
