Biography

William Haden/Hayden [1] Slaton was reportedly born "near Marietta" Georgia in his pension app. [citation needed] He marrried Sallie Ann Webb, [citation needed] and seven children are evident: Marion Charleston "Hoss" [2], Willie Cornelia, George Washington, Mary Jane "Jenny," Emma V, James Presley, and William Edgar Slaton.

He probably served in the 53rd Partisan Rangers, CSA,[3] but such records for W. H. Slayton are easily confused with a William Henry Slaton, a contemporary, found in nearby Lauderdale County, Alabama.

He later married Mary Cidonia "Donie," last name unknown, the possibilities are too numerous in the 1880 census for the the name "Mary C" with the limited information, a marriage record is needed. Because they appear to have had no children, in preference to creating an UNKNOWN surname entry, we await a marriage record.

He died in 1924 and is reportedly buried at Black Ground Cemetery, Town Creek, Lawrence County, Alabama.[4], but an alternate Slaton Cemetery is also posted at Wren, Alabama.[5]
