OBITUARY. MR. W. SLATTERY, LAURA.
Mr. William Slattery, who died recently at his residence, Caltowie Road, near Laura, was born at Harrogate, near Mount Barker, in 1863, and went with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Slattery, to the Laura district when thirteen years old. In 1895 Mr. Slattery took over the property known as " Worman's" on the Caltowie Road, and as circumstances permitted added to it until he became one of the largest farmers in the Laura district. He was twice married. His first wife, Miss B. Griffen, of Appila, died in 1899, leaving one son, Mr. I. J. Slattery, of "Longafield," Laura, who has two sons (twins). In 1903 he married Miss Elizabeth Murphy, of Beetaloo Valley, who, with a family of four sons and two daughters, survive him. Although not disposed to take an active part in the public life of the district, the deceased was always ready to help, and was highlv respected and deservedly popular. R.I.P.[1]
