Biography

Mary Slaughter was born in North Carolina about 1787. She was the daughter of Owen Slaughter and Mary McDonald. About 1805 she married Hudson Harris, and according to census records they had a number of children.

Although FAG gives Mary's death date a 23 Oct 1843, she had to have died before 1840, as she is not counted in the census that year. The grave stone reads: "In memory of Polly, consort of Hudson Harris . . . aged 56 years."[4]

In 1850, Simeon, Hudson, Christopher and William were living with their brother Charles. Living near by was Mary (Harris) Newell.[6]
