John Buck, illegitimate son of Julia Buck, was christened on 25 Mar 1849 in Scottow.[2][3]
John's father was John Slaughter, who his mother married in 1850. John used the surname Slaughter on all subsequent records.
In 1851 John Slaughter (age 3) lived at Low Common in Swanton Abbotts, Norfolk with his father John (24, Ag Lab), mother Julia (35), sister Ann (5), and brother Robert (0).[4]
In 1861 John Slaughter (age 12) lived at Workhouse Corner in Scottow with his father John (33, Agricultural Labourer), mother Julia (44), and four siblings: Anne (15), Robert (10), William (8, Scholar), and Charlotte (4).[5]
In 1871 John Slaughter (age 23, Helper in Stables Domestic Servant) lived in Gunton, Norfolk with Thomas Daniel (24, Helper in Stables Domestic Servant).[6]
John Slaughter married Eunice Eliza Thompson in 1873. The marriage was registered in St George Hanover Square, London in the last quarter of the year.[7]
In 1881 John Slaughter (age 31, Coachman) lived in Gunton with his wife Eunice E (34) and four children Audrey E (6, Scholar), Elgin J (4), Daisey R (3), and Constance R (1).[8]
In 1891 John Slaughter (age 39, Hotel Keeper) lived in Thorpe Market, Norfolk with his wife Eunice (39) and seven children: Elgin (14, Groom), Daisy (13, Scholar), Constance (11, Scholar), Eunice (7, Scholar), Irwin (4, Scholar), Claud (3), and Jeffrey (2).[9]
In 1901 John Slaughter (age 54, Factory Hand Brush) lived at Norwich Road Ebenezer Terrace in Wymondham, Norfolk with his wife Eunice E (50), four children: Constance R (21, Machinist), Irwin T (14, Factory Hand Brush), Claud T (13), and Audrey A Bates (26), granddaughter Daisy M Bates (1), and grandson Sidney Bates (0).[10]
In 1911 John Slaughter (age 62, Night Watchman at Brush Manufacturer's) lived in Wymondham with his wife Eunice (64) and two sons: Irwin (24, Brush Maker's Labourer) and Claud (23, Brush Maker's Labourer), as well as grandson Sydney Bates (10, School Boy).[11]
John's wife passed away in 1915.
In 1921 John Slaughter (age 73) lived in Wymondham with his daughter Eunice E Claxton (38) and four grandchildren: Sidney Bates (20), Geoffrey D Slaughter (15), Russell C Slaughter (12), and Andrew S Claxton (6).[12]
John Slaughter passed away in 1937, aged 88 years. His death was registered in Forehoe, Norfolk in the first quarter of the year.[13]
