Surnames

Oliver Slay is a member of the Fitzgibbon Name Study Project.
  1. Fitzgibbon - my 2nd great grandmother is Ann (Fitzgibbons) Breton. It was very difficult to place her in the many Fitzgibbon families in London at the time. Much of this work has been to separate out the families in different regions of London and their migrations elsewhere. The public Fitzgibbon One-Name Tree has over 1,600 Fitzgibbon individuals mainly from the UK and 2,500 immediate relatives.
  2. Slay - my paternal line - I have mapped out almost all Slays in the UK in a semi-collaborative work with several of my 50+ 3rd Slay cousins (my great great grandfather had 7 brothers).
  3. Texidor - my maternal grandfather's ancestors. I am admin for the Texidor Family Facebook group with over 500 members from Europe, the Americas and elsewhere.

  • Paternal relationship is confirmed by an autosomal MyHeritageDNA test match between OS and PS, his 3rd cousin . (SH and EM are 2nd cousins 1x removed.) Their most-recent common ancestors are Robert Wiggin and Martha Pope, the 5x great grandparents of Oliver Slay and 3x great grandparents of SH and 4x great grandparents of EM.
