On 6 Jan 1920, Chester was living with his parents and older brother Clarence (16) in Palo Alto, Santa Clara, California, USA in a rented house. Chester is shown as one year, 10 months old. The census states that his father was in "Mechanical Home Experimenting".[1]
By 22 Apr 1930, the family were buying the home they lived in 382 Barron Ave., Palo Alto. The household included Chester's parents, Chester, and his step-brother Clarence and Clarence's wife, Mary. Chester's father was working as a "Building Contractor".[2]
Chester attended Palo Alto High School in Palo Alto and San Jose State University in San Jose, Santa Clara, California, USA. In 1939 he became engaged to Miss Jean Kathleen Dodge[3]. Chester and Jean were married on Easter Sunday, 9 Apr. 1939 at 4:30 p.m. at the Mayfield Methodist Church in Palo Alto, Santa Clara, California, USA. They were married by the Rev. Harry J. Pressfield. Jean's sister, Lois was her matron of honor while her sister-in-law Rosemary Dodge was her bridesmaid. Chester's best man was Bud McCoy and Jean's two older brother's served as ushers. [4] Following the wedding Mr. and Mrs. Slinger honeymooned at Lake Tahoe[5]
Unfortunately, the marriage was not long-lived. Chester and Jean were divorced 19 May 1941.[6] There were no children.[7]
Before their divorce, on 11 Apr 1940, Chester and Jean were living with his parents at 506 Barron Ave., Palo Alto, Santa Clara, California, USA. Chester was working as a "Boat Builder" and owned his own boat works.[8]
Not much information has been found about Chester after he and Jean divorced. We do know that he remarried to a woman named Evelyn. They were living in Multnomah County, Oregon. Then on 6 Oct 1987 Chester died.[9][10]
