Genealogically Defined

Frederic Slingsby was born in 1844 in Aldington, Kent, England[1] and baptised on the 29th September 1844 at St. Martin, Aldington, Kent, England, the son of John Slingsby[2] (labourer) and Mary Slingsby of Aldington[3][4]

From the 23rd August 1874 to the 6th September 1874, banns were announced at St. Martin, Aldington, Kent, England for Frederick Slingsby of Aldington and Kate Hodgkin of Sandgate[5]

On the 29th October 1874, Frederick married Kate Hodgkin at St. Paul, Sandgate, Kent, England. Frederick Slingsby, 30, bachelor, labourer of Aldington, son of John Slingsby (labourer) and Kate Slingsby [sic], 27, spinster of Sandgate, daughter of John Hodgkin (labourer). Between 1881 and 1887, Frederick and Kate moved from Aldington to Folkestone.

Frederick appears to have been a bell ringer at the parish church at Folkestone in 1887.

"FOLKESTONE-....CHANGE RINGING On Tuesday the 18th inst. Mr Harrisson's brother ringers wished him health and strength to take part in the ringing on his 80th anniversary. Research Notes

Frederic(k)'s birth appears to have been unregistered which was not unusual soon after civil registration was introduced in 1837 as it was not a legal requirement until 1874.
