Willie C. Sloan

FOUNTAIN INN, Nov. 22--Willie C. Sloan, 80, died at his home near Fountain Inn early Monday night following a serious illness of three days. He was a native of Laurens County but had lived most of his life in or near Fountain Inn. He was a member of the Cedar Grove Baptist Church and a son of the late Timothy and Othella Taylor Sloan.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Peggie Casey Sloan; four daughters, Mrs. Mattie Taylor and Mrs. Ethel Pridmore, both of Fountain Inn, Mrs. Lillian Scruggs of Wilson, N. C., and Mrs. Mary Lawson of Simpsonville; one son, Lawrence Sloan of Greenwood; 18 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted from the Cannon Funeral Home Tuesday afternoon at 4 o'clock by the Rev. Mr. Turner and the Rev. Mr. Kudd. Interment will be in the family plot in the Fountain Inn Cemetery.

The following are asked to meet at the funeral home at 3:45 p. m. Tuesday and serve as pallbearers: Walter, Shaw, Palmer and Ollie Sloan and Luther and C. R. Young.

The honorary escort will be Dr. H. E. Vaughn, John Cooke, Toby Pearson, Talmadge Owens, Dr. Jack Waldon and Bennie Lee Holland.

The body will remain at the Cannon Funeral Home.
