Biography

Ivan was born 23 Nov 1929[1] in Fisher, Illinois, the 8th son of Gardner Sloat and Aggie Buck. At 4 months old he is listed in the 1930 US Census[2]. He married Barbara Branson about 1950 and lived in Fisher, Illinois from about 1950 to about 1970. He married Dorothy Frick in 1971 and lived in Gibson City, Illinois from about 1970 to 1982 - in 1981 living at 304 N Sang Ave Gibson City, IL 60936[3]. He lived in Thomasboro, Illinois from 1982 to 1995[4]. At some point he served in the U.S. Navy (possibly during WW II?). He died in 1995 and was buried in the Drummer Township Cemetery, Gibson City, Ford County, Illinois[1][4] He had one son, Alan (not sure if this is the son of his first wife or his second), and several step children by his second wife.

Ford County, IL Obituaries SLOAT, IVAN D. - 65, of Thomasboro, formerly of Fisher and Gibson City, died at 4 p.m. Firday 5-12-1995 at Covenant Medical Center, Urbana. His funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Lamb Funeral Home, Gibson City, the Rev. Patrick W. Cox officiating. Burial will be in Drummer Twp Cemetery, Gibson City.

Mr. Sloat was born 11-23-1929, in Fisher, a son of Gardner E. and Agnes Buck Sloat.
He married Barbara Branson.
He later married Dorothy Crews on 12-3-1971 in Gibson City. She survives.
Other survivors include one son, Alan, Colorado;
two stepsons, Larry Crews, Champaign, and Rick Crews, Ashland, KY;
two stepdaughters, Pam Moore, Gibson City, and Deb Jepsen, Downs;
one sister, Shirley Blankenship, Wheeling;
four brothers, Earl Sloat, Homosassa, Fla; Loyd Sloat, Fisher, Roy Sloat, Farmer City; and Roscoe Sloat, St. Louis, Mo;
and nine grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.
Mr. Sloat lived in Fisher and Gibson City. He moved to Thomasboro in 1982.
