Mary Sly was born about 1800 in Godalming. She was the daughter of William and Sophia (Rampton) Sly. She was christened on 27 Apr 1800 at St Peter and St Paul's Church in Godalming (Anglican).
Mary probably had a first marriage before civil registration began. She worked as a shopkeeper.
Mary married Benjamin Miller, a widower from Frome, Somerset, between 1851 and 1861.
By April 7th 1861, Benjamin and Mary were living in Vincent Terrace, Frome. Benjamin was working as a clothier and employing two men. Mary was a retired shopkeeper.
By April 2nd 1871, Benjamin and Mary were still living in Vincent Terrace, Frome. Benjamin's occupation, at age 70, was given as cloth worker.
Benjamin died December 11th 1871 in Frome district. His age was given as 71.
Mary died on 10 Dec 1883, aged 86, at her home in Godalming High Street. She was buried on 13 Dec 1883 in Nightingale Cemetery, Godalming, in the consecrated section.
