Biography

James Small was born on 26th November 1838 in Woodford Island, Clarence River, New South Wales (Australia). He was the third son of John Small and Elizabeth Patfield. [1] He was a grandson of First Fleet convicts, John Small and Mary Parker, Second Fleeter George Patfield, and 1793 convict arrival, Mary O'Brien.

James married Joann McGregor on 24th July 1860 in Ulmarra, New South Wales. [2] They had ten children, only one of whom passed away in infancy.

James passed away on 1st May 1914 in Comboyne, New South Wales. [3]
