Biography

Penninah was a Friend (Quaker)

Penninah was born in 1792. She is the daughter of Benjamin Small and Elizabeth Sawyer.[1][2]

Life Line

  • Penninah Small was born on the 28th of October, 1792 to Benjamin Small and Elizabeth Sawyer.[3]
  • On the 25th of July 1794, Penninah's sister, Abigail Small, was born.[3]
  • On the 7th of October 1796, Penninah's sister, Mary Small, was born.[3]
  • On the 8th of October 1798, Penninah's sister, Miriam Small, was born.[3]
  • On the 28th of July 1800, Penninah's brother, Aaron Small, was born.[3]
  • On the 19th of March 1802, Penninah's brother, Abner Small, was born.[3]
  • On the 27th of February 1804, Penninah's brother, Jesse Small, was born.[3]
  • The women's minutes of the Mt. Pleasant Monthly Meeting, on the 25th of August, 1804, indicate that Benjamin Small requested membership among the friends for his four minor daughters. The men's minutes are lost, and so one can only conjecture that he had also asked for membership for his three minor son's, Aaron, Abner and Jesse. (One question remains, what of his wife, Elizabeth?)[4]
  • On the 6th of March 1807, Penninah's sister, Sarah Small, was born.[3]
  • In 1807 Benjamin and Elizabeth moved their family from Mt Pleasant Monthly Meeting, Grayson County, Virginia to West Branch Monthly Meeting, Ohio.[1][2]
  • On the 21st of October, 1809, Penninah's brother, Ephraim Small, was born.[3]
  • Subsequently, Penninah moved with her family to Whitewater Monthly Meeting. Wayne County, Indiana.[1][2]
  • Penninah's brother, Aaron, died on the 20st of August 1821.[5]
  • Penninah's father died on the 7th March, 1826 in Wayne County, Indiana.[6][7]
