He married Jane Cooper (also born in Vaughan Township, ca. 1843) on Nov. 19, 1867, in York County.[1][2] (He may have made a second marriage in Toronto on Sept. 10, 1890.[3])
William and Jane had at least three children, all born in Toronto:
Wm. Lancaster, born 17 Jan 1870, who became a steam fitter.[4] He married Ellen E. Glover (born in Goderich ca. 1869) on 26 June 1894, in Hamilton.[5]
William lived at several different addresses and worked at several different occupations in Toronto between the time of his marriage to Jane and his death. In 1870, he was living at 164 Parliament Street and making his living as a merchant.[4] By the following year, he was living at 84 Isabella Street and was a machinist.[6] Between at least 1873 and 1875, he lived at 46 Isabella and was a machinist at Smellie & Findlay, whose address is given variously as 50 Esplanade East and Farquhar's Lane (the locations are quite near each other).[8] Between 1879 and 1883, employed as a post office clerk, his addresses include 10 Suffolk Place,[9] 12 Suffolk Place[10] and 89 Wood Street.[7]
He was a railway mail clerk and a widower, and living at 270 Roxton Road, when he died at the age of 72, on Feb. 23, 1913 in Toronto,[11][12][13] and was interred there on the 26th in Mount Pleasant Cemetery.[14][15][16]
