Ray Smith was the son of Ralph Smith and Vera Olmstead. They had two children Ray and Ella Mae. After Ralph Smith and Vera Olmstead divorced, Ray had little to no contact with his father or met or knew his half siblings. During my lifetime (I am his second child) none of us knew of Ralph Smith's second family. I heard one report from my mother that Ray tried to find his Dad as an adult, and that his father shut the door in his face. I honestly don't think he knew about his other half siblings. His mother married again after her divorce and added a third child, Eva. Ray, Ella and Eva grew up together. I was very fond of my Aunts Ella and Eva. During WWII Ray met married Delia Murrell in Leicester, England and they had 5 sons and 2 daughters. Most of their life together was in Oregon, though they moved to Washington State in about 1967 when he passed his State exam to become certified in Electronics (self study) and went to work for Motorola. Prior to that his trade had been as a newspaper printer. He divorced Delia after he suffered health issues and left Motorola. He moved to Oregon, primarily Baker City and Coos Bay.
