He married Ethel May Sharpe on 2 June 1909 in Victoria, Australia  and two of their children were Leslie Brougham Smith and Alma May Smith.
Albert died, aged 73 years, at Hallett, South Australia, Australia  and was buried on 27 November 1959 in the Hallett Cemetery, Hallett, South Australia, Australia .
