Sarah was born in 1822. She was the daughter of James Smith and Elizabeth Fletcher.
In 1847 Sarah emigrated from England to New Zealand with her parents and three siblings, travelling on the Ship Ann.
She married Peter Conroy on 6 September 1848 in St Pauls Church, Auckland. They appear to have had no children.
Her husband died in 1856.
She married, secondly, George Partington on 23 September 1862 in St Matthews Church & St Patrick Church, Auckland. They also appear to have remained childless.
Sarah passed away in 1892 at the age of 69.
