Wanda Smith Bozeman went to be with our Lord and Savior on Saturday November 17, 2012 after a short battle with cancer at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center. She was born September 19, 1947 in McComb, MS. She was a resident of Baton Rouge. She grew up in North Baton Rouge, attending Banks Elementary, Lanier Elementary. She graduated from Glen Oaks High School in 1965. Wanda graduated from LSU in 1970 and later earned her masters and plus 30. She was a long time member of Lanier Baptist Church and has been attending Parkview Baptist Church. She retired from Louisiana School for the Deaf after 40 years as a classroom teacher and supervising teacher of the high school. Wanda is survived by her husband and best friend of 36 years, Gerald Bozeman; son, Troy Bozeman of Denham Springs and his daughter, Kinslee Ann; son, Travis Bozeman of Walker and his wife Katherine Lejeune Bozeman; stepson, Gerald Bozeman Jr. and his wife Tina of Deanville, TX; stepdaughter, Lori Bozeman Blinka and her husband Ricky and their boys Ethan and Bryce of Sommerville, TX; mother, Maxine Newman Smith; brother, Neal Smith and wife Diane of Livingston; aunt, Cordia Starkey of Hammond; aunt, Beatrice Greer of McComb, MS; brother-in-law, John Bozeman and his wife Linda of Baton Rouge; brother-in-law, Wade Bozeman of Baton Rouge; sister-in-law, Marita Street of Baton Rouge; sister-in-law, Marilyn Burgess and her husband Kenneth of Youngsville, NC. She had many nieces and nephews that she loved very much. She was preceded in death by her daddy, Willard N. Smith; in-laws, Wade and Etta Bozeman. Funeral services will be officiated by Rev. Dennis Blackwell at Greenoaks Memorial Park and Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Jacques Angelloz, Gerald Bozeman Jr., John Bozeman, Derrick Dutsch, Edwin Newman, Jack Sanders, Joey Starkey and Oliver Thomas II. Honorary pallbearers are Kenneth Burgess, Wesley Burgess, Rodney Stafford, Michael Stock and Austin Waguespack. Music was done by the Rev. Tim Richardson and Ms. Toni Lynn Zieto. Wanda was a Christian and had a strong faith and love for Jesus Christ. "For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son that whoever believes in Him, shall not perish, but have everlasting life." John 3:16 The family would like to thank Dr. Mary Raven, Dr. Robert Causey, Dr. Scott Seale, Sharon Toepfer, R.N., and all of the angels on the 5th floor west at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to your home church or favorite charity. Visitation will be Monday November 19 from 5pm-8pm and will resume Tuesday, November 20 from 9am until religious services at 10am. Interment will follow in Greenoaks Memorial Park.
