Albert James (Jim) Smith was born in 1911 to James and Agnes (Jeannie Moir) Smith. His father died in November 1912. His mother then married Joseph Pearson in 1914. He was raised on the family farm with his brother Joe, step-brother John, and step-sisters Jean, Jessie and Janet.
In 1944 he married Violet Stein and they farmed in the Leroy, Saskatchewan area. They had four children: David, Sandra, Cathryn and Darcy. He died on his farm in 1991. Jim was buried in Leroy Cemetery.
