Biography

Jesse was born in 1895 in Milan, Georgia, to Henry Smith and Catherine Conley. Jesse attended school through the 3rd grade, after which time he worked on the family farm[1] with his father. After his discharge from the United States Army, he married Bessie Cason, and together they had three children, one of whom died at the age of five. Jesse worked as a miller[2] of corn in the late 1930s and early 1940s. He passed away in 1959 at the age of 64[3].
